The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women human-rights crisis disproportionately affects Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United States, notably those in the FNMI (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) and Native American communities.

 

Indigenous Peoples’ Day NYC

Indigenous Peoples Day is a FREE 3-day event where Indigenous leaders, Elders, Medicine people, cultural performers, and supporters from across the globe will celebrate the rich history, art, and culture of Indigenous People. First Peoples from the Americas will once again convene to share their traditions, through song, dance, art, and prayer, while inviting all to rethink what was Columbus Day.

 

Native Mascots are offensive, rascist, and harmful

The use of American Indian mascots as symbols in schools and university athletic programs is particularly troubling because schools are places of learning. These mascots are teaching stereotypical, misleading, and too often, insulting images of American Indians. These negative lessons are not just affecting American Indian students; they are sending the wrong message to all students.

Mauna Kea is sacred to the Native Hawaiians and is the zenith of their ancestral ties to creation. The upper regions, Wao Akua, are the realms of the Akua (creator) and the summit is a temple of the Supreme Being in not only Hawaiian culture but also in many histories throughout Polynesia.
